It's a Wonka Halloween!

Every year the 6 of us in my department at work dress up for Halloween. This year we decided on Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory (the original, not the horrible re-make). We won 2nd place and were given a $50 Visa gift card. We're so excited that we won because we plan on using the money to buy Christmas gifts for an Angel Tree recipient.

Original Willy Wonka Characters

(Left to Right) Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregard, Charlie Bucket, Willy Wonka, Veruka Salt, and Mike TeeVee

Out with the Old....In with the New

The insurance company decided that Brian's truck was totalled, which caused Brian's 'Newcaritis' to flare up severely! He was so excited to hear that he could go shopping for a new car and only mourned the loss of the truck for about a minute (when he was taking all of his belongings out of it).

R.I.P.

And now for the unveiling of the new vehicle (drumroll)....

Ha! He Wishes!! Now for the real thing...

Fun on the Job

Most of you know that I work at a local college in the Career Services department. Every quarter there is an all faculty/staff meeting where each department reports on their current statistics. Our department decided about 8 years ago to start doing videos to make our statistics a little more interesting. Over the years, we've done a variety of videos and below is a montage of several of the videos that we've done. We will sometimes put people from other departments in our videos, and the best by far is our college president who lip syncs at the end of the montage. One of the videos that didn't make it on the montage was our Napolean Dynamite video (resembling the intro to the movie). It's one of my favorites, so I've included that one as well. Enjoy...

What's that Horrible Smell?

It's the Nebraska Cornhusker's Football Team...

Every year we try to watch as many games as we can at Cape Buffalo, which is where the North Texas Nebraskans meet on game day. They are a large organization of people who support the Nebraska Cornhuskers. We try to catch some of the games there because it's so much fun to be amongst fellow fans - there's usually a huge sea of red and black shirts and they play the fight song and get the crowd excited for the game.

We met up with my sister last night at Cape Buffalo to watch the game and what started out as a decent game ended up in a blood bath. We were killed by Missouri 52-17. We know we stink, but we're fans nonetheless. GO HUSKERS!

IS IT TOTALED? You decide...

Brian and I went to see his truck at the auto body shop today. The entire back end will require a lot of repair if the insurance company doesn't 'total' it. The pictures don't show the extent of the damage done, but you can click on them to get a bigger and better view.

The impact was on this side of the truck

Rear axel broken and dislodged from the truck

The tailgate, wheel and drive shaft in the bed of the truck

The drive shaft - made of cardboard. No wonder it broke!

THANK YOU GOD

I have to thank God and His Angels for watching over Brian this morning. It began with my car not starting. The battery was dead and needed a jump start. I called Brian and told him what was going on and called my sister as well to see if she could help, but she didn't know how to jump start a car (and neither did I). So, Brian told his boss that he needed to leave and that he'd be back shortly. On his way home, Brian was in an accident that demolished the back end of his truck. He's fine, but very shaken up. You can imagine what was going through my mind when he called me to tell me what had happened. He told me to try and get someone else to jump start my car since now we were both without a working car. I walked up and down the block of my neighborhood ringing doorbells, but not one neighbor was home - or at least didn't answer the door. By this time my stress level was off the charts. All I wanted was to be with Brian and to make sure that he was ok, but that wasn't possible, so I cried instead (which relieved some of the stress). Shortly after that, Brian called and said that he was getting a rental car and that he'd be able to jump start my car so that I could take it to the dealership. When he got home, I couldn't hug him long enough or tight enough. Thank you God for watching over my husband.
