How We Broke The News

I knew that I wanted to do something unique to tell Brian that we were having a baby, so on the day that I found out I emailed Brian at work and told him that I would be making a new dessert after dinner that evening, one that my boss had recommended (big lie). So after dinner that evening I prepared the 'scrumptious' dessert and put the positive pregnancy test next to it, along with a baby bib that said "I Love Daddy". I had the video camera ready and then called to Brian in the living room to come in and help me carry the dessert to the living room. Well needless to say, the dessert never was carried to the living room and definitely wasn't eaten! Below are a couple of pictures...

Happy Daddy

We called all our closest family members who lived out of town to give them the good news, which included Brian's Mom and 2 of my sisters and my brother. If any of you read the blog around Christmas time and the prank that my sister Lisa pulled on Brian by giving him a calendar as a Christmas gift, then you will understand why we used a calendar to tell Lisa that she was going to be an Aunt. We told Brian's Dad and Mary by giving them a picture frame that had a picture of a baby carriage and said "Baby Young, September 2009". We told his sister and brother-in-law the day that they came over for Brittany's Mary Kay makeover by giving them a printed out email 'from the baby'.

Dysfunctional Family Feud

Today at work my department participated in Dysfunctional Family Feud. All faculty, staff and students were invited to participate and in the end there were 9 teams that signed up. Our 'family' was the Needermier family (stolen from the movie Animal House). After playing 4 undefeated rounds, against some great (and not so great teams), we won 1st place which earned each of us a trophy and movie tickets. What was ironic was the answer that won us the game, which was 'job', and as you know the department I work in is Career Services.

Waiting to see if the answer is on the board

Attic to Office

Brian has been talking about converting the attic into a room since we moved into the house in 2007 and it has finally happened! Not only did we get a new room, but we also got a lot more storage space as well. Brian is very excited because the room will now be his new office or 'man cave' as he calls it.

Valentine's Day

Brian and I went to dinner at Rise No. 1 for Valentine's Day. It was a fixed 4 course meal and from start to finish it was one of the best meals we've ever had. Rise is a french restaurant specializing in souffles. There is no question that we will be returning.

Snow Day

Texas snow days typically consist of ice rather than snow, but I got a day and a half off of work, so I'm not complaining!

Day of Beauty

Brian and I gave our neice, Brittany, a gift certificate for a Mary Kay makeover and new makeup. Brittany and family came over on a Saturday and while us girls played with makeup, Brian and Ed checked out Robin's new car, took a drive and brought back some Starbucks for the beauty queens. Brittany tried 2 different looks and Robin tried a new look as well...Gracie had a look all her own that involved lipstick, eyeshadow and eye liner all over her face! They all 3 looked pretty, but Brittany stole the show with her 2nd look - she is such a beauty!
