Brian completed a 2 month contract job in August. We talked about having a family staycation when the contract ended, so we decided to go to Grapevine and stay at the Gaylord Texan and take advantage of their Shrek package.
When we arrived, Morgan received a welcome gift that included a coloring book, colors, and other little things. The big hit was the Princess Fiona headband, which she wore almost the entire weekend.
Friday evening, we had dinner and then went to the Dreamworks Character parade where we got to see not only characters from Shrek, but also from Madagascar. We then went to the rooftop of the hotel parking garage where we waited for the fireworks show to begin. They had a DJ out there to keep us entertained while we waited. It was fun to watch Morgan try to do the line dances!
We found this guy while waiting for the parade to start.
Waiting on the windy rooftop
Line Dancing
Awesome fireworks
The following day we went to the SeaLife Aquarium, then Paradise Springs (Gaylord's water park) that afternoon. That evening we had dinner at Zappoli's, the Italian restaurant inside the resort.
Silly Girl! She thought it was funny that she stole Mommy's necklace
Morgan made a new friend, Savannah
Dinner was yummy!
The next morning was the Shrek Character breakfast. I was a little worried when Morgan started shaking because she was afraid of Shrek, who was walking around to all of the tables. By the time he made it to our table though, she had stopped shaking and did tell him 'thank you for the breakfast'.
Tasting the "Swamp Juice"
Green chocolate covered marshmellows and strawberries
Scary Shrek
Puss in Boots came out next and Morgan was a completely different child. She LOVED Puss in Boots! She gave him a kiss on the nose and gave him a hug. She couldn't get enough of him.
Puss covering his nose after Morgan's kiss (LOVE this picture!)
Princess Fiona was the last character to come out and Morgan was so excited to meet her. She couldn't wait for her to visit our table so that she could give her a hug.
We had an awesome staycation!
