The MOST AMAZING Birthday Cake!

Brian never ceases to amaze me and today is no exception. I was at work going through my normal routine when Brian and his co-worker, My, strolled in with the most amazing birthday cake I've ever seen. Technically, my birthday isn't until July 24th, but Brian and I will be on the road that entire day making our way to West Virginia for his family reunion. I found out that My made the cake and it took her two days to make it! The cake is themed after the Tudors/Henry VIII. I am reading a lot of books right now about that era and also watching all of the back episodes of the Tudors, so the cake couldn't have been more perfect. I have the sweetest, most thoughtful husband. I am truly blessed.

British Bowling

My sister Lisa and her boyfriend Jon came over to play the Wii and little did we know that we would be laughing hysterically as we witnessed Jon's very unique style of bowling. He claims it's the British version of bowling, as he is a Brit, but I think it's just Jon. The thing is, his technique worked - his score was over 200!

Birthday Party

In our group of friends, three of us have July birthdays - Tom, Maria and myself. Tom and his wife put a party together at their house and it was decided that we would celebrate all three birthdays at once. We played a little bit of ping pong, danced to some KC and the Sunshine Band and witnessed a brief cat fight between two grown women who should have known better. It was a great time! :-)

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

Brian surprised me with my birthday gift a week early and I was VERY EXCITED to see that I got the Wii, which is what I wanted but didn't think I would get. Brian, being the 'techie' that he is, felt that the Wii wasn't as good as some of the other game consoles like the XBox 360. That's why I was so excited when I opened my gift to find a game for the Wii. I knew immediately that he had relented and made his wife very happy. Thank you again Babe!

So excited!

Women Rule!

About 2 months ago I sent out a joke email that had to do with women being the smarter sex. As you can imagine, this started a mass of emails between the men and the women. My cousin Michael suggested that there be a Trivial Pursuit Challenge the weekend of July 4th to settle the debate once and for all. So for the last 2 months there has been a lot of trash talking and harrassing one another. Well, this past weekend the men were finally put in their place and had to accept the fact that...Women ARE the Smarter Sex!

Pool Fun

My cousins Michael and Sylvia and their children Elena and Alicia came up from San Antonio and stayed with us for the 4th of July weekend. On that Saturday, my cousin George, my sisters, and my friend Debbi came over as well to hang out at the pool and cook out. About 2 months ago Brian insisted that I buy this huge beach ball with a Cowboys helmet on it for the pool. I was not happy about spending $10 on a blow up ball, but we got it anyway. Little did I know that it would be the source of so much entertainment! After this weekend, I must say that it was worth every penny. A "ball riding" contest was formed to see who could hold on for the longest amount of time without falling off. After much laughing, splashing, and sputtering the winner was Elena, with Brian at a close 2nd.

July 4th

I really wanted to go to the City of Frisco's July 4th Celebration because the Temptations were performing, but Brian doesn't like crowds and he's not a Temptations fan, so needless to say, we didn't go. I refused to stay at home though, so I talked him into going to watch one of the local fireworks shows around our house. We ended up going about a mile down the road and parking in a lot with a bunch of other people and watching them from there. A local radio station played patriotic music while the fireworks were going off, but there was no rhyme or reason to it, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it was nice, but next year we are gong to try to get closer and perhaps play our own patriotic music. :-)
